Review

This book is totally awesome and totally weird. And it’s all about the library. This award winning author, really wrote a heart-turner.

This book is about 4 different kids, living 4 different lives, who all find a library card. It’s about a bully, a TV addict, a homeless kid and a new girl. It’s about loss, hurt, love and hope. And it is a wonderful book that also has a few dark topics in it.

I would say this book is probably 11 and up due to some darker topics. It is a great novel, however, it does cover some hard topics. Most of it is ok, however there is mention of a knife and scars from the knife. It isn’t detailed, but it is mentioned.

Overall, this is a really interesting book about books! If you love dramatic, sometimes sad novels about finding hope, this is the book for you! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • A really interesting story about the library.

Cons

  • Mention of dark topics…
From the Newbery-award winning author of Maniac Magee.

Mongoose, Brenda, Sonseray, and April have nothing in common…until a mysterious blue card appears as if by magic and begins to change each of their lives.

None of them guesses it at first, but that strange blue card will be their ticket to the past–and to a future that they never imagined.
In stories that range from humorous to heartbreaking, Newbery-award-winner Jerry Spinelli reveals the amazing possibilities lurking behind library doors.
