Yay!!!! Who’s ready for a controversial Llama post? (Mind you, this is my opinion and I stand with it and with my church. We can disagree!) Halloween is wrong and I do not agree with it. I am Anti-Halloween.
Why? Simple. It’s the devil’s holiday and also super weird. Seriously, go and look into the traditions of Halloween, it’s pretty messed up stuff. This is the Holiday of Fear, and 2 Timothy 1:7 states “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind”.
So I ask you, why are you celebrating a holiday where the sole focus is on being afraid? Doesn’t that seem a little strange?
Now, have I “celebrated” Halloween in the past? No, I actually haven’t. I have dressed up and gone to a Harvest Party and got candy, but I was NOT celebrating the holiday. If anything, I was totally freaked out!!!! (9 year old me was not impressed with zombies and such) But dressing up as a princess or handing out candy to kids is not celebrating, it’s showing love to kids who come to my home. (Which is none.) I used to dress up all the time! Most kids do, I also have handed out candy not just in October but throughout the year! There is a difference in celebrating and being nice.
Now, I love fall! I love the leaves, pumpkins are adorable and the change in the air is inspiring! I pretty much ignore Halloween, enjoy bonfire season and step on crunch leaves. I do think Jack-o-lanterns are adorable, (except the history around the tradition is creepy!) and I do give the kids in my church candy and compliment their costumes. But I do not celebrate or support Halloween.
On the other hand… 62 days till Christmas!!!! A wonderful holiday about Joy, Love and Jesus!!!!!! That holiday I totally celebrate. Happy Fall Y’all!!!! -The Young Llama Reader.
