Review

Ok I love this book! The action is amazing, the adventure is totally fun and the spy parts of it are a blast! It was described as Ella Enchanted meets Black Widow and I totally agree!!!

This book is about Cressida Hoth, an orphan with nothing in the world but her 2 horrible aunts and a truth curse they placed on her as a girl. So when she is forced to go to a ladies finishing school, she is thrilled to be away from her manipulative family, but isn’t too happy to be learning how to curtsy and dance. But much to her surprise, the school isn’t as it seems. With fencing lessons and poison-making, Cressida is learning to be a spy to find out secrets on the royal family of Dernmont! But how can a girl cursed with the truth lie her way through the courts?…

This book was fabulous! I just loved the entire book! There was action and mystery, mixed in with the romance and adventure. The story was wonderfully written and one I will definitely be reading again!!! I loved the fantasy land full of secrets and the royal family full of buried history. It felt like a fantasy/espionage novel that anyone would adore!

Now there is some violence in the book. Mention of learning to fight, knifes, daggers, poisons and such. Mention of blood and getting hurt; and someone does get killed. The chapter isn’t too descriptive but there is mention of a danger meeting bone. (Ew…) It is written very clean though. Young ladies 12 and up could totally read it.

Overall, what an enchanting book!!!!! I love, Love, LOVE IT! This novel is fabulous, funny and totally one I suggest! (Oh I hope the author writes more books soon!) Have a Blessed spring day! -The Young Llama Reader.

Speaking the truth can be a dangerous thing.

Cressida Hoth is alone in the world. Orphaned and unwanted, she is inflicted with a peculiar curse by her mischievous aunts and banished to a finishing school in the secluded kingdom of Dernmont. Students train in every accomplishment suitable for young ladies: music, dancing, etiquette…and strangely, poison-making, fencing, and lock-picking.

The school is a front for a rebel spy ring, and when her training is complete, Cressida is selected to join a mission to infiltrate the kingdom’s royal court. She has been thrown unceremoniously into a world of ball gowns and espionage, but she is still under a curse, and it threatens to expose them all.

Defending her teammates and her secret, Cressida discovers that the kingdom’s buried history and the truth behind her curse run far deeper than she imagined.
