What is a Clean Read?

What is a Clean Read? It sounds kind of funny right? How do you clean a book without water and soap?!? The answer is fire obviously… (The Holy Ghost Fire! 😉 ) But no, don’t burn your books unless they are actually vile books. What I’m talking about is books that are “clean” or appropriate books. Let me explain.

I have been seeing a few authors post about how they don’t want to use the word ‘clean’ to describe their books because it implies that other books are ‘dirty’. Which they are! A clean book is a book that doesn’t have cursing, that doesn’t have inappropriate nonsense, isn’t gory and it’s a book suitable for kids, teens and adults to read.

Philippians 4:8 says, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” And that is the kind of books I want to read. This is the reason YoungLlama exists!!!!! I made this website for people like me, who couldn’t find any good, clean books to read. (Your Welcome!)

So, when you see a book being described as ‘clean’ look through it, think about it, and maybe pray about it. I want what I read to line up with Philippians 4:8. I have thrown away and burned books that didn’t. (That’s right people, I burned them!… They made a great fire starter though…) I’m not perfect at it, I still find bad books and stop reading them. But then I warn you about them. Take a look at YoungLlama if you are looking for nice, clean books that aren’t dirty; because it is the way to go people! -The Young Llama Reader.
