Review
So, I have had this book for YEARS, and I can’t believe I never even thought of putting it on Young Llama.com. I am soooooooooo forgetful! This book is amazing!! I can’t believe I let it sit on my self without bragging about it!!! I’m telling you, this book is a must read!!!
The book is about a girl who can JUMP INTO BOOKS!!!!!!! (Oh, and there is also a completely normal boy named Owen, but he’s not important… 😉 ) Anyway, the two kids go on this totally awesome adventure to try and find the girls father, and they end up almost destroying several books on the way… I LOVE IT!!!!!
The series is very enjoyable and super clean; the only problem with the books, is that they have a LOT of magic. Like… ‘Dark’ magic… I’m not sure how to describe the magic, but at one point, Owen finds a ‘Forbidden’ spell book, that contains… ‘Dark’ magic. It is NOT voodoo or anything reallllllly scary, though it does mention, raising people from their enteral nap. And a bunch of other weird things, like Robot-Zombies and magical Wizards. So, it’s not really Christian-friendly… sorry.
Over all, I love the books, but there is a lot of magic in them that some parents may not like. (I’m trying to be as polite as I possibly can about this, ’cause I loved some of the magic in the book; but some people may not like it… I am just warning you, that this book is Totally-awesome-and-a-must-read!!!!, but it is also a very-magic-filled-book-with-some-really-weird-stuff-at-times.)
Over all, I think this book is ok for kids to read but ask your parents first! I really hope this review was helpful, and if it wasn’t… I’M 16, I CAN’T BE PERFECT AT EVERYTHING!!!!!! -The Young Llama Reader.
Pros
- A very kid-friendly book!!!
- Very funny and enjoyable!!!!!
Cons
- Lots and lots of magic!
Life is boring when you live in the real world, instead of starring in your own book series. Owen knows that better than anyone, what with the real world’s homework and chores.
But everything changes the day Owen sees the impossible happen—his classmate Bethany climb out of a book in the library. It turns out Bethany’s half-fictional and has been searching every book she can find for her missing father, a fictional character.
Bethany can’t let anyone else learn her secret, so Owen makes her a deal: All she has to do is take him into a book in Owen’s favorite Kiel Gnomenfoot series, and he’ll never say a word. Besides, visiting the book might help Bethany find her father…
…Or it might just destroy the Kiel Gnomenfoot series, reveal Bethany’s secret to the entire world, and force Owen to live out Kiel Gnomenfoot’s final (very final) adventure.
