Review

I read this book years ago! So I might not remember ALL the details, but what I do remember is that I LOVED IT!!!!!!! This book was super adventurous and funny, kid-friendly, and magical!

The book is awesome!!! But there is a LOT of magic in it. I don’t think there is any ‘Creepy’ or ‘Bad’ magic in it, but it has bee a while since I last read it… But if I read it back then and liked it, then it must of been good! (I have always had good taste in books) Anyways, there are magicians in it and they do have magic. But it isn’t ‘Creepy’ magic; what they do is make shapes… ‘Spell-shapes’ I think… And there magic comes from a magical seashell? Weird, but the book is still really good!

Over all, I really love this book. And I do believe this book is kid-friendly and maybe Christian-friendly too. I think… Love you all, and thank you soooo much for reading this review! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • Super funny and very kid-friendly
  • Adventure and magic too!

Cons

  • Mega ‘Magic Alert’!

Twelve-year-old Brine Seaborne is a girl with a past–if only she could remember what it is. Found alone in a rowboat as a child, clutching a shard of the rare starshell needed for spell-casting, she’s spent the past years keeping house for an irritable magician and his obnoxious apprentice, Peter.
When Brine and Peter get themselves into a load of trouble and flee, they blunder into the path of the legendary pirate ship the Onion. Before you can say “pieces of eight,” they’re up to their necks in the pirates’ quest to find Magical North, a place so shrouded in secrets and myth that most people don’t even think it exists. If Brine is lucky, she’ll find her place in the world. And if she’s unlucky, everyone on the ship will be eaten by sea monsters. It could really go either way.
