Review
This book was a gift from a friend, (thanks Claire!!!) and I could not put it down!!! (Read through the night just to finish it… TOTALLY WORTH IT!)
This book is about Jesse King, a young women traveling west with her stubborn husband and baby boy. But when tragedy strikes on the trail, Jesse is taken by Indians. From death and despair, to love and hope; Jesse isn’t certain where God is taking her, except she knows to trust Him and not to be afraid. Even when it means walking through fire.
This novel is inspiring! Filled with adventure, danger and a bit of romance, Walks the Fire is a story about trusting God no matter where life takes you or takes from you. There is some violence in the book. Not a lot, but mention of death, blood, wounds, kidnapping and such. Mention of marriage, giving birth and such. This book is one I suggest for young ladies 16 and up who love wild west tales with a great focus on God!
Overall, I LOVED IT!!!!! 10 out of 10! If you are a fan of the Oregon Trail, this would be a great option for you! -The Young Llama Reader.
Pros
- An amazing novel you ladies 16 and up!
- Clean, Christian-friendly and inspiring!!!
Cons
- Dark topics and violence…
Walks the Fire chronicles the extraordinary life of Jesse King, reluctant pioneer and avid quiltmaker, who loves, hurts, and triumphs in her faith even as she moves from covered wagon to tepee, from tepee to overland trail fort, and from there to a fledgling state capitol.
A well written pioneer love story fascinating, well-researched details of the culture and practices of the Plains Indians.
