Review
I love Cornelia Funke’s novels! She writes such fun adventures such as InkHeart and Dragon Rider. And this book is no different.
This book is about Igraine, a young girl with big dreams of being a knight! But with a family of magicians, she doesn’t really have any way to become one. That is until the nephew of the baroness-next-door shows up demanding her parents magic spell books and their castle is under attack! Now Igraine has a chance to go on a quest, save the day and hopefully not injure anyone on the way!
This book was fabulous! Both funny and cute, this adventure is such a great story for young girls 7 and up who love magic and fun. I read this book soooo fast, I didn’t want to put it down! It is a great novel for kids! The magic in the book is very clean, spells, curses and such but no voo-doo. There is some violence in the book but next-to no blood. Some bad people get turned into fish and a cat eats them, but nothing is described.
Overall, this is a great read and one I totally suggest!!!! If you love magic, adventures and brave girls, this would be a great book for you! -The Young Llama Reader.
Pros
- A wonderful magical adventure!
- Great for girls 7 and up!!!
Cons
- Magic, curses and some violence…
Igraine dreams of becoming a famous knight just like her great grandfather, but the truth is, life at the family castle is rather boring.
Until the nephew of the baroness-next-door shows up.
He’s got a dastardly plan to capture the castle and claim as his own the wonderful singing spell books that belong to Igraine’s magician parents.
To make matters worse, at the very moment of the siege, her mom and dad botch a spell, turning themselves into pigs!
Aided by a Gentle Giant and a Sorrowful Knight, it’s up to Igraine to be brave and save the day-and the books!
