Review
This is an adventure that keeps you reading till the end! Filled with romance, mystery and war, it is a great novel for girls 14 and up.
This book is about Etta Lark, a young girl in hiding from the Madame, a power-hungry women who rules the memory stealing land. Etta is struggling to hide her magic, keep her mom safe in the hospital and stay out of the way of the Shadows she betrayed. But when her mother is put on the auction block for her memories, Etta has to work with the Shadows to steal a map of the most dangerous prison in the kingdom… The Maze… With secrets unraveling, danger at every turn and Etta’s powers slowly revealing themselves, it will take a thief to steal the victory before it’s too late for them all…
This story was a crazy adventure! I loved all the twists and turns, the world built on memories was fascinating if not sometimes confusing. The romance was sweet and had a realistic build-up, the mystery was a blast and the overall story was stellar! Girls 14 and up would love this book!
There is violence in the book. Mention of people getting hurt, some blood, memories getting stolen that leads to comas or death. Mention of auction blocks where people are sold for their memories then killed off. It has some dark topics, but it isn’t creepy, just part of the story.
Overall, I totally suggest this book! It was soooo much fun to read and I can’t wait to read it again. Happy Reading! -The Young Llama Reader.

In the city of Craewick, memories reign.
The power-obsessed ruler of the city, Madame, has cultivated a society in which memories are currency, citizens are divided by ability, and Gifted individuals can take memories from others through touch as they please.
Seventeen-year-old Etta Lark is desperate to live outside of the corrupt culture, but she grapples with the guilt of an accident that has left her mother bedridden in the city’s asylum. When Madame threatens to put her mother up for auction, a Craewick practice in which a “criminal’s” memories are sold to the highest bidder before being killed, Etta will do whatever it takes to save her. Even if it means rejoining the Shadows, the rebel group she swore off in the wake of the accident years earlier.
To rescue her mother, Etta must prove her allegiance to the Shadows by stealing a memorized map of the Maze, a formidable prison created by the bloodthirsty ruler of a neighboring Realm. Etta faces startling attacks, unexpected romance, and, above all, her own past as she uncovers a conspiracy that challenges everything she knew about herself and the world around her.
In a place where nothing is what it seems, can Etta ever become more than a memory thief?
