Review

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!! A dystopian twist on Cinderella that leaves you totally stunned and wanting more! (I was sooo sad when it ended! I need more!!!)

This book is about Cedric Carr, a Quartz at the bottom of the caste system in his kingdom. But he has a mission, to become a Diamond, masquerade into the castle, steal the future Empresses heart and kill the Emperor. But when Cedric starts falling for Ysabelle, his mission starts to change. Maybe there is a way to save the kingdom without killing… And maybe keep his empress with him…

AHH!!! I love it!!!!! This book is a fabulous fairytale of romance, suspense, action and political chaos! Every chapter was wonderful. I loved the world, the characters were amazing, and the plot was stunning! (Can you tell I’m obsessed?!?!) This is a great read for young ladies 15 and up, who love a good twist on a classic fairytale.

Now there is violence in the book. People get shot, stabbed and such. There is some blood and death brought up. Not too detailed, but mentioned. Also the caste system has some almost slavery in it. (Think Jews in Egypt) Plus there is a Pearl caste that are “companions” (basically a secretary) who are sometimes mistresses. (Only mentioned, and the Pearl in the book is more like a mother figure thankfully)

Overall, I adored this book! Every chapter was a masterpiece and I already got book 2! If you love a twisted tale of romance and magic, but totally clean for Christians to read… Then you need this book! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • A fantastic twist on Cinderella!!!
  • Amazing novel!
  • Great for young ladies 15 and up!!!

Cons

  • Violence and death

She’s the heir to a corrupt empire. He’s the man coming to burn it all down.

I know my place. I’m a Quartz. Meant to serve. For thirty years, I’ve slaved in the mines, stripping magic to fuel the empire’s precious Capital.

But I refuse to die in the dark.

The emperor’s competition for his daughter’s hand is my one chance. If I can win a place among the nobles, I’ll get close enough to stop the tyranny once and for all.

There’s just one problem: Princess Ysabelle is nothing like I expected. And as the Betrothal Games become real, I’ll have to make a choice.

A choice that could change the world.Dive into the dystopian fairytale world of Smoke and Glass Slippers, a land of lies and deceit where the lines between heroism and villainy blur and nothing is as it seems. High-stakes fantasy adventure combined with swoony romance await in this clean, faith-filled enemies to lovers romantasy!
