Review
This book not only has a gorgeous cover, but it also has a wonderful story about finding family! It is a funny, heart-warming story that young ladies 15 and up would just love!
This book is about Emily Price, a artist who specializes in restoring art but wishes to make her own art! Her life is basic, normal, if not a bit boring. When she meets an Italian chef with a love for life, Emily is not only in love with him, but also his outlook on life. So when she loses her job and her chef proposes, she accepts and follows him home. But Italy is not the home she thought it would be. With dark family secrets and a world where Emily doesn’t have a place, she isn’t certain this is where God wants her to be…
This book was not the rom-com I thought I would be reading. Yes there is some romance, but most of the book is about finding family and enjoying life!!! The novel is full of heart-warming love and sweet family moments. (As well as moments where your heart breaks!!!) I think this would be a great read for ladies 15 and up.
Now there are some sad moments in the book. Mention of family drama, hidden secrets and tough topics. There is some death mentioned in the book which brings tears to your eyes; but overall, the novel is actually focused on finding the joy in life, not the sorrows.
Overall, this is a fantastic story that I totally suggest!!! Is it a rom-com? No, but it is a interesting tale of hope, laughter and joy. -The Young Llama Reader.
Pros
- A really interesting read!!!
- Funny and romantic!
Cons
- Mention of death and some tough topics.
Emily Price–fix-it girl extraordinaire and would-be artist–dreams of having a gallery show of her own. There is no time for distractions, especially not the ultimate distraction of falling in love.
But Chef Benito Vassallo’s relentless pursuit proves hard to resist. Visiting from Italy, Ben works to breathe new life into his aunt and uncle’s faded restaurant, Piccollo. Soon after their first meeting, he works to win Emily as well–inviting her into his world and into his heart.
Emily astonishes everyone when she accepts Ben’s proposal and follows him home. But instead of allowing the land, culture, and people of Monterello to transform her, Emily interferes with everyone and everything around her, alienating Ben’s tightly knit family. Only Ben’s father, Lucio, gives Emily the understanding she needs to lay down her guard. Soon, Emily’s life and art begin to blossom, and Italy’s beauty and rhythm take hold of her spirit.
Yet when she unearths long-buried family secrets, Emily wonders if she really fits into Ben’s world. Will the joys of Italy become just a memory, or will Emily share in the freedom and grace that her life with Ben has shown her are possible?
