Review
This book was sent to me by Baker Book House for my honest review. And it wasn’t a bad book, but it didn’t feel very unique. I have read 5 of this authors book now, and they are ok, but they don’t really feel like they have an original story line…
This book is about ex-cop Jenna Hart who left the police force in Chattanooga when someone was framing her as a dirty cop. But being a deputy in a small town isn’t as calm as she thought it would be. Especially when bodies start turning up and it seems like someone is taking a long over-do revenage. Jenna will have to team up with Agent Maxwell Andersen. The man who she thought was interested in her, then left… Now it seems like if they ever want to find out if they are made to be, they will have to catch a killer who is intent on his deadly revenge…
So, the book was ok. The romance was cute, I liked the idea of the book and the plot line wasn’t too bad. The main character of the book has PTSD, which brings an interesting angle to the novel. I didn’t really connect with the story that much. It just didn’t peak my interest and I had a hard time finishing it.
There is violence in the book. Mention of murder, death, bodies, blood, getting shot, scars and such. The blood and violence is at a minimum. Almost no details. My biggest ‘con’ with the novel is that is felt bland to me. Like a Hallmark mystery that isn’t really getting your attention.
Overall, I give this book a 3.6 Llama rating. It’s not bad, but it’s not great either. It would be a pretty clean read for girls 14 and up who like mysteries, but honestly? Not my favorite book… Have a wonderful Fall day! -The Young Llama Reader.
Pros
- Clean for girls 14 and up.
- Mystery, romance and some adventure.
Cons
- Mention violence and murders.
- Kind-of a bland read…
Deputy Jenna Hart has only been working in her sleepy hometown of Pearl Springs for seven months when city officials begin to be targeted by a killer. Twenty years ago, the construction of a dam caused people to lose their land to eminent domain. That wound has not healed with time, and someone bearing a grudge is clearly set on revenge. With the former mayor of Pearl Springs now running for the US Senate, Jenna will have to call in backup to ensure his protection.
That’s where Agent Maxwell Anderson comes in. He and Jenna used to work together in the Chattanooga Police Department, and there was even a smoldering fire of attraction. Now they team up to track down the killer before a big political rally that promises to bring not only the former mayor into the crosshairs but hundreds of civilians as well.
As the sparks of romance reignite and the threads of the investigation get tangled when another suspect comes into play, Jenna and Max will have to draw on all of their skills to stay alive and prevent the wave of disaster poised to hit the community of Pearl Springs. The question is, can either of them fully trust that the other has their back?
