Review
This book is sooooo sweet! It’s funny, cute and has such a good focus on friendship, hope and trust. A great novel for any girl 9 and up!!! (Or a 21 year old who loves kids fiction 😉 )
This book is about Jessie Lou, your typical tom-boy with a love of nature and getting messy. The only issue, Jessie Lou is madly in love with Conrad, the popular boy of her school who hasn’t looked twice at her since 2nd grade. But when he gets hurt and falls out of the popular club, suddenly Jessie Lou is the one helping him with his books, his bike and his homework. Could they actually be friends? Or will Conrad go back to his old life after everything is done?…
This novel was super sweet! I just loved the focus on friendship and trusting each other. The book does a great job of showing the importance of being a good friend and working together. The crush/romance is super cute, the book does a great job of teaching kids to work through their feelings and help others. I just loved it!!!
Now there is some bullying in the novel. Mention of people laughing at others and such. Plus Jessie Lou’s sister is super pretty and her mother and grandfather always tell her that and kind-of treat her like the favorite. It has a impact on Jessie Lou’s life and it is a bit sad to read about. There are also 1 or 2 curse words brought up in the novel.
Overall, what an amazing read!!! I just loved this book and I definitely suggest it to girls 9 and up! I hope you all have a book-filled day!!! -The Young Llama Reader.
