Review

To be honest, I have mixed feelings about this book. On one hand it was pretty good and I thoroughly enjoyed the story; on the other hand the book went way to fast for my taste and stuff just happened randomly…

This book is about Colt McAlister, a kid who just loves surfing and hanging with his friends in San Diego. That is till a suspicious accident kills his parents and he moves in with his Grandfather. Trying to adjust to his new life, the last thing Colt expects is to start getting attacked by mind controlled individuals and seeing aliens everywhere. That’s when he learns the truth, his family is tied to a top secret organization to prevent alien invasions. But it might be too late since the aliens seem to be on Earth already….

The book was pretty good. It had a interesting plot line and the story was pretty fun to read. I liked the characters and there was a lot of action and adventure with some hints about going to Church and such. However, this book went by sooooo fast! You knew the plot, bad guys and overall theme by chapter 2 and then the rest of the book is the characters catching up with that! The action happened so fast, the fights were vaguely described but not by much. Everything just happens right away, no time for explaining.

There is also some violence in the book. Mention of blood, death, aliens attacking people, biting people, mention of explosion, mention of World War 2, mention of assassinations and more. Mention of guns, knifes, grenades and alien weapons. As well as mention of aliens working with the Nazi’s. The war and fights are not too detailed but they are described.

Overall, I would say this is a good book for boys 15 and up looking for a novel filled with spies, aliens and war. It is pretty clean, interesting, and I do suggest it, but it was not my favorite sci-fi. Have a book-filled day!!! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • A good sci-fi novel for boys 15 and up!
  • Adventurous, engaging and action-packed!!!
  • A great start to the series!

Cons

  • Violence and death mentioned…
  • Weird aliens and sci-fi stuff…

He didn’t ask to be a hero, but now all that stands between us and chaos . . . is Colt.

Colt McAlister was having the summer of his life. He spent his days surfing and his nights playing guitar on the beach with friends. He even met a girl and got his first car. But everything changes when his parents are killed in a freak accident.

He’s forced to leave his old life behind and move to Arizona with his grandfather. The only person he knows at the new high school is a childhood friend named Dani. And Oz, a guy he’s sure he’s never met but who is strangely familiar.

But what if his parents’ death wasn’t an accident? His mother, an investigative reporter, was going to expose a secret mind-control program run by one of the world’s largest companies. Before she could release the story, what if agents from Trident Biotech made sure she couldn’t go public?

Vowing to uncover truth, Colt is drawn into a secret world of aliens, shapeshifters, flying motorcycles, and invisible getaways.

The invasion has begun.
