Review

This book is sooooo good! It’s like an adventure novel but sci-fi while also being a survival book!!!! Totally worth it!!!!!!!!!! It is super clean, very interesting and totally amazing!

This book is about ROZZUM unit 7134, also known as Roz. A completely normal robot designed to help and assist humanity. But when she powers on, Roz finds herself on an island all alone except for the animals living there. Now she is learning about nature, the animals and survival. Until one day Roz’s past finds her, then everything starts to fall apart…

This book was soooooo good! It was super cute and easy to read. The story was very clean and interesting; totally perfect for kids 7 and up looking for engaging story about friendship and family! I loved the theme of the story and the simplicity of the story. This book is super cute and one I very much suggest to kids. (Also, they are making a movie about it!!!!)

Now there is some violence in the book. No mention of blood or gore, but mention of robots being destroyed, melted and shot. Mention of animals dying, freezing and also being shot. It is simply mentioned but not described. The book overall is simply about survival so death and such is mention and brought up.

Overall, this book is super sweet! I absolutely loved the story and I think boys and girls 7 and up would love this series!!!!! If you are looking for a Hatchet themed book for younger kids, this is the novel for you! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • A very clean, very good book for kids!
  • Adventurous, interesting and engaging!!!
  • A amazing read for kids 7 and up!!

Cons

  • Some violence and mention of death…

Can a robot survive in the wilderness?

When robot Roz opens her eyes for the first time, she discovers that she is all alone on a remote, wild island. She has no idea how she got there or what her purpose is–but she knows she needs to survive. After battling a violent storm and escaping a vicious bear attack, she realizes that her only hope for survival is to adapt to her surroundings and learn from the island’s unwelcoming animal inhabitants.

As Roz slowly befriends the animals, the island starts to feel like home–until, one day, the robot’s mysterious past comes back to haunt her.

From bestselling and award-winning author and illustrator Peter Brown comes a heartwarming and action-packed novel about what happens when nature and technology collide.
