Review

I adore this book!!!! It has been awhile since I have read a book this good!!!!! It has adventure, action, mystery, suspense, romance, friendship and humor! I loved every page and can’t wait to re-read it!!!!

This book is about Arabelle, a nurse fighting for life and freedom during the war; but when she meets the man dubbed “Black Heart” by England, she finds something else to fight for… his soul. Phillip wants nothing more than to have died that day with his men; but alive and well, he now has to find something else worth fighting for. When their paths unexpectedly cross, both must work together to stop the bloodshed and save their home… And possibly their hearts…

This book was amazing! I cried, I laughed, and I fell in love with the characters. I 100% suggest this book to young women 16 and up looking for a heart-warming story about love during World War 1. This book is action packed, filled with amazing characters and such a beautiful focus on God’s Forgiveness and Love. I love this book sooooo much!

Now there is some rough  parts of the novel. Mention of battle, fires, explosions, gas, guns, knifes and more. There is also mention of tending wounds such as, burns, blisters, missing limbs, gunshot wounds and more. There is some mention of blood and the horror of war. As well as men dying on purpose and killing others. Also some mention of adult topics. Women dancing and “entertaining” men and such. Nothing is detailed or described just mentioned. This book is written sooo well and is very clean to read.

Overall, I loved this book. It is now one of my new favorites and one I most definitely suggest to you! Have a beautiful day! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • An amazing book!!!
  • Fun plot line, interesting mystery and a sweet romance!
  • A fantastic read for young women 16 and up!

Cons

  • Mention of violence and adult topics…

All of England thinks Phillip Camden a monster–a man who deliberately caused the deaths of his squadron. But as nurse Arabelle Denler watches the so-dubbed “Black Heart” every day, she sees something far different: a hurting man desperate for mercy. And when their paths twist together and he declares himself her new protector, she realizes she has her own role to play in his healing.

Phillip Camden would have preferred to die that day with his squadron rather than be recruited to the Admiralty’s codebreaking division. The threats he receives daily are no great surprise and, in his opinion, well deserved. What comes as a shock is the reborn desire to truly live that Arabelle inspires in him.

But when an old acquaintance shows up and seems set on using him in a plot that has the codebreakers of Room 40 in a frenzy, new affections are put to the test.
