Review

So much to my surprise I have not reviewed this book yet?!?! (I was going to review book 2, then saw that I haven’t even reviewed book 1!) Which is super weird cause this book was awesome!

This book is about the City of Ember. 200 years after a horrible disaster that wiped out the human race, a city deep underground is running out of supplies for the last refuge of humans. With blackouts sweeping throughout the city, it is up to 2 unlikely children to solve a mystery left by their ancestors to help them find a way out of their dark land and into a future lit by hope! But will Lina and Doon be able to help save their people before their city’s lights burn out forever?…

This book was super amazing! It was adventurous, dramatic and filled with interesting places. Set in a apocalypse-like world, it certainly is filled with action, mystery and suspense. I love the story line, the characters are amazing and the book itself is soooooo good! This is a really interesting series for kids 9 and up!

Now, there is some mention of violence in the book. (Not to mention a end of the world kind-of feel about the book) In a dying city with little to no supplies, people hurt each other and fight for food. There is mention of people dying and some fighting, but mostly mentioned not really described.

Over all, this book is really good. It is a great read for boys and girls 9 and up who love a good action-filled, adventure! It is one that I really enjoyed and a book that I totally suggest! Have a book-filled day! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • A very dramatic and very good book!!!
  • A great read for boys!
  • Filled with adventure and action!

Cons

  • Some violence…

Ember is the only light in a dark world. But when its lamps begin to flicker, two friends must race to escape the dark. This highly acclaimed adventure series is a modern-day classic—with over 4 MILLION copies sold!

The city of Ember was built as a last refuge for the human race. Two hundred years later, the great lamps that light the city are beginning to dim. When Lina finds part of an ancient message, she’s sure it holds a secret that will save the city.

Now, she and her friend Doon must race to figure out the clues to keep the lights on. If they succeed, they will have to convince everyone to follow them into danger. But if they fail? The lights will burn out and the darkness will close in forever.
