Review

This book was sent to me by Baker Book House, and even though Christmas is still a few months away, I loved it and I am ready for the season of giving!!!!!

This book is about an ordinary girl who finds out that her father who she has never meet is a king of a small country and he is deadly ill. Adelaide Smith is quickly thrown into a world of royalty and politics she doesn’t know, all while trying to get to know a father who she is scared to lose. And with suspense around every corner, she isn’t certain the royal life is for her…

This book was very good! I loved the plot line, it felt like watching a hallmark movie, and it was a very sweet short story! There is a bit of romance, some mystery and suspense and a lovely Christian focus throughout the book. The story does go by a bit fast, but the plot line is sooo well written it feels like a movie!

My only real complaint about this book is that the ending came out of nowhere! One second the story is interesting and fun, the next second everything changes, and it abruptly ends… I know these kind of books are a bit shorter than others, but I really felt like the ending was a bit sudden and boring. Just my opinion.

Over all, I did really enjoy this novel and I do suggest it. It is a great book for teen girls 12 and up! And I just love how Melody Carlson writes and now I am read for the Christmas season!!!!!!!!!!! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • A cute short story!!!
  • Very clean and Christian-friendly!
  • Great for teen girls!

Cons

  • A very quick ending…

Adelaide Smith is too busy for fairy tales. She’s been working hard to put herself through law school and now that the end is in sight, she’s determined to stay focused on her goals. Then she receives a letter notifying her that she has been found through a DNA registry to be a direct descendant of King Maximillian V, the ruler of a small Eastern European principality called Montovia. She’s understandably skeptical. This is the stuff of cheesy made-for-TV movies, not real life.

Although the pieces of this surprising family puzzle seem too good to be true, curiosity gets the best of her. At the king’s invitation, Adelaide embarks on a Christmas break trip that is chock-full of surprises, including a charming village, an opulent palace, family mysteries, royal jealousies, a handsome young member of Parliament–and the chance at a real fairy tale romance with a happily-ever-after ending.

Spend this Christmas with bestselling author Melody Carlson as she whisks you away to a royal holiday you’ll never forget!
