Review

This is my first book on my Llama Summer Book List! And this book was AMAZING!!!! I am head over heels in love with this book!!! You must read this like NOW!!!!!! (Although… maybe not the boys… since the books about princess’s… Sorry guys!)

The book is about two princess’s; the eldest was born with a ‘ugly’ face and her birthright was ripped away from her. And the youngest was as beautiful as a… well, she’s gorgeous, let’s go with that. Anyways, the book is about the two girls and there friend Jack, as they try to kill the giant. (Briar Rose. Jack and the Bean-stalk… Is any of this ringing a bell?)

The book was really good, but there was a lot of magic. But I mean COME ON! It’s Sleeping Beauty, of course there’s magic! There are fairies who do ‘Incarnations’, which is just them saying a spell like, “Prime the roses, pluck the hen; turn this book into a Happy The End!” Ya know, normal non-creepy magic stuff.

The only part I would really warn you about is that Briar (the ‘Ugly’ one) gets hit a lot by the Bishop… And he hits her with his cane and calls her a ‘devil’ something. I didn’t really like that part of the book, but it is in there and I can’t change it.

Over all, I really liked this book, and I am defiantly re-reading this one again! More Summer Books coming soon!!! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • Magic, adventure, True Loves Kiss. WHO WOULDN’T WANT TO READ THIS BOOK!
  • This is a great book for girls.

Cons

  • Violence and one of the girls gets hit with a cane a lot…
  • Magic

Lady Briar is scorned for her appearance. Princess Rose is adored for her looks. Unbeknownst to them, one or both may bear a curse that only true love can break. But the girls have little time for curses anyway—along with their friend Jack, they are busy plotting the downfall of the evil giant who plagues their kingdom. But how can children succeed when the adults are afraid to even try? And what if the curse manifests? Whose love could be true enough to save the day?
