Review

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!! This may be a new fav!!!!! It is a magical adventure that is PERFECT for teens girls!!!!!!!!!! (And fits perfectly on my Favorite Books shelf!)

The book is about a princess that escapes her death and has to go into disguise as a goose girl to protect herself. And… She has MAGIC!!!!!! She can talk to animals!!!!!! Like, she can speak their language and hear what they say. (“COOL!”) So, yes there is magic; but it is very clean, and super teen-friendly!

There is also a kind-of adult topic in the book. A few men kept saying stuff like having their way with women. Nothing happens, but ti was mentioned a few times; so that’s why it is a teens books. And at one point someone tells a story of a battle and in the middle of it the wives of the losing team show their husbands their… chests and say that if they lose the winning team will take the wives to their beds…. Yeah it was a weird story but it didn’t describe anything, it just said that… (That is also why it’s a teen book)

Over all, LOVE!!!!!!!!! I TOTALLY suggest this book like NOW!!!! It is definitely a great book and I am totally reading the other ones in the series as well!!!! Have a great day. -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • A VERY good book for teen girls!!!
  • Adventure, action and AWESOMENESS!!!!!

Cons

  • Some violence and some people die.
  • Mention of some adult stuff

Anidori-Kiladra Talianna Isilee, Crown Princess of Kildenree, spends the first years of her life listening to her aunt’s stories and learning the language of the birds, especially the swans. As she grows up Ani develops the skills of animal speech, but is never comfortable speaking with people, so when her silver-tongued lady in waiting leads a mutiny during Ani’s journey to be married in a foreign land, Ani is helpless and cannot persuade anyone to help her. She becomes a goose girl and must use her own special, nearly magical powers to find her way to her true destiny.

From the Grimm’s fairy tale of the princess who became a goose girl before she could become queen, Shannon Hale has woven an incredible and original tale of a girl who must find her own unusual talents before she can lead the people she has made her own.
