Summary

I know I usually review books… BUT THIS IS ONE HAT-TASTIC MOVIE!!!!! I love this movie soooooo much!!!

The movie is about Charles Dickens, one of the most famous authors in history, trying to write a new book, six weeks before Christmas. I have watched this movie two times now (I’m actually watching it as I type this), and I believe I have found the perfect 2018 family Christmas movie.

The movie is completely clean and super funny; and just plain awesome!!! It is also very Christian friendly, with no magic or anything that sticks out and makes you yell “Oh my!”. Though in the movie Charles does kind-of dream up the characters in a really cool/weird way; and he even dreams up the ghosts. I don’t think that the ghosts are super creepy (they really aren’t) but maybe your family doesn’t like ghosts. That’s OK – that just means this movie isn’t for you. (Though I don’t see how this movie could not be for you, but whatever…)

Over all, WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!!! You and your family will love it! Unless you are a Scrooge… then you MUST watch this movie!

Pros

  • Great new Christmas movie
  • Faith-friendly

Cons

  • It is not a book, but about a book…

The Man Who Invented Christmas tells the magical journey that led to the creation of Ebenezer Scrooge (Christopher Plummer), Tiny Tim and other classic characters from A Christmas Carol.

Directed by Bharat Nalluri (Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day), the film shows how Charles Dickens (Dan Stevens) mixed real life inspirations with his vivid imagination to conjure up unforgettable characters and a timeless tale, forever changing the holiday season into the celebration we know today.
