Review

I LOVE this book! It is sweet and romantic while also being inspiring!!!! The Cinderella Plot is a wonderful book on being yourself.

This book is about Paisley Harper, a young women who is invisible to the rest of her school. So she decides to change that. With help from a book from her families bookstore, Paisley takes the nerdy, book-loving, introvert and changes into someone new. Someone better!… Only she might be losing the people who saw her before…

Wow. I did not expect this book to be so deep y’all! Yes, it is a sweet romance, written perfectly for girls 14 and up! With funny banter, cute friendships and a great focus on God, this novel is a classic rom-com. However, it goes deeper than that. This book goes into the dangers of changing yourself for society. It talks about how following social media and trendy books are not a good idea, and how it can twist you into something your not and take you away from God.

The book doesn’t technically have “dark topics” but it does talk about the addiction and trauma that comes from changing yourself so much to fit into a world that doesn’t want you. There is bullying, mostly insults and such. Plus guys who are only dating a girl for her looks and trying to force kiss her. (Nothing happens)

Overall, this is a book that I totally suggest!!!! Such a good young adult novel and one I can’t wait to re-read!!!! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • An amazing novel for girls 14 and up!!!
  • Romantic and Christian-friendly!

Cons

  • Some dark topics…

Paisley Harper is invisible. Not in a superpower way. More like the people-look-right-through-you-in-the-hallway kind of way.

She’s the girl with the oversized cardigan, random book knowledge, and the uncanny ability to tutor the school’s star quarterback without actually being seen as anything more than helpful. Meanwhile, her aunt and uncle’s beloved small-town bookstore is under threat from a shiny corporate chain, her best friend keeps giving her looks that feel suspiciously loaded, and Homecoming is looming like a glittery reminder that senior year is running out…and she’s never been kissed.

Enter The Cinderella Plot—a wildly popular self-help book promising total transformation in five easy steps. New hair. New confidence. New life. Maybe even… a date.

With nothing to lose (except her dignity), Paisley decides to follow the plan. Because if fairy tales have taught her anything, it’s that invisible girls don’t get happy endings unless they change something first.

But as Paisley starts stepping into the spotlight, she has to ask herself an important question:
What if being seen comes at the cost of being herself?
