Review

This book was a Christmas gift from my friend, (Thank you Claire!!!) and it was absolutely adorable!!!! Filled with magic, adventure and friendship it is a very good book for girls 8 and up!

This book is about Cinderella trying to escape her stepmother and find her adventure. But she wasn’t expected to find it in a cursed castle with a beast! A beast who may be the friend Ella always wanted. Belle was looking for a way to save her family business, but when a spell goes wrong, she ends up in a cellar under the “care” of a stepmother who won’t give her her freedom! But with the help of a handsome prince, Belle might find what she’s looking for and more.

This novel is a wonderful Fairy-tale retelling filled with magic, adventure and fun! I loved the storyline, the characters were written wonderfully and the overall book is a great read. I think girls 8 and up would love this story swap, and it would be a great adventure!

I will say though, it sounds like the rest of this series might have woke stuff hidden in it. (Thankfully the 1st book is woke-free!) Some spoilers coming up!!!! The beast in the book is a girl, which was unique. So instead of a romance it’s a friendship between Ella and the Beast. And the fairy-godfather has nail-polish on which is mentioned 2 times. And if they mention it twice, maybe the author is implying something.

Overall, I LOVED this book! It was cute and funny, and I totally suggest it. I just don’t suggest the next books. I will probably be reviewing them soon just in case, but this might be a series where I enjoy the 1st book and ignore the rest. Happy Reading! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • A very fun book for girls 8 and up!
  • A cute Fairy-tale swap!

Cons

  • Lots of magic, spells and curses mentioned.

Ella’s spent her life dreaming about adventure, but it’s hard to have adventures when you’re stuck with a stepfamily who treat you like a servant. When she unexpectedly wakes up in a land far, far away, she’s thrilled at the chance to embark on an epic quest.

That is, until she finds herself trapped once more—this time in the castle of a dangerous beast.

Belle, meanwhile, has plans. Her family’s trading company is on the brink of ruin, and to save it, she’s going to enter—and win—a royal competition in the prince’s honor.

But when she unexpectedly winds up in a cellar with a wicked stepfamily who have their own plans to keep her from the competition . . . things get complicated.

Happily-ever-after couldn’t feel farther away. Can Ella escape the beast’s clutches? And can Belle get rid of this stepfamily in time for the competition?
