Review

Oh my goodness is this series amazing!!!!!! The adventure, romance and sci-fi mystery are written sooooo well, I had a hard time putting this book down at midnight so I could finish it the next morning!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the 3rd and final book in the Gate Chronicles. A science-fiction/fantasy about defeating darkness and resetting the timeline! This book is about Hallie and Kase. After escaping from their deaths, Hallie is infused with a power she doesn’t understand and one that may possibly kill her. Kase is headed home without her to find his family and explain the threat headed their way. But neither one of them knows the true danger rises up in the planet. With destruction, darkness and despair, their grand adventure might just be the thing that kills them….

This book is stellar read! The 12 plot twists in it will shock you! (I didn’t actually count them, but the number 12 feels about right.) This wonderful book of 700 pages, takes you on more twists and turns than the other 2 books combined!!!!!!! The romance is super sweet too! I loved reading the characters growths and totally thought some of them were going to die more than once!!!!!! 10 out of 10, totally suggest this book to teens 15 and up!

Now there are some dark topics in the book. Mention of war, blood, death. Mention of people getting shot, stabbed, cut. Mention of wounds, infections and such. The worst death is when someone gets their head cut off. (It was self-defense and they were evil) But it isn’t too detailed, just mentioned. There is also mention of magic in the book that steals Soul or the life out of something. It’s more sci-fi than magic, but the book describes it as a power source that the natives use. There is mention of unraveling someone, pulling the Soul out of a person and topics like that. It isn’t “voo-doo” or creepy. In fact it almost has a Christian element to it; with the light vs. darkness and defeating a great evil that corrupts broken people.

Overall, this is by far my 2nd favorite series!!!!!!!! I am obsessed, I loved every chapter and I’m already re-reading book 1!!!!!!!! If you love a fun sci-fi adventure with magical elements and sweet romance, this would be a great series for you! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • An amazing sci-fi fantasy!!!!
  • Stunning series for teens 15 and up!
  • All 3 books are awesome!

Cons

  • Some dark topics…
  • Mention of blood and violence…
Two swords. One destiny.
With the fate of the world in her hands, Hallie Walker is at the mercy of a power she cannot control. When it leads her to a legendary sword once lost to time, the sword’s secrets could save them all. She only needs the courage to use it.

In the battle-worn capital, Kase Shackley fights to unite a city that no longer believes in the Shackley name. Haunted by his past and a fragile truce with a dangerous enemy, he’s determined to save his country—and Hallie—though it might cost his life.

As the world falls apart under Jagamot’s shadow, Hallie and Kase race to stop the destruction, even if it means using forbidden magic. Yet, in a war of gods, salvation may come at the price of their souls.

Swords of Soul & Shadow is the third and final installment in Kase’s and Hallie’s story, perfect those who love the world of Treasure Planet, the romance of Anastasia, and the banter of The Mummy.
