Happy (almost) Valentine’s Day everybody!!! I hope you are all enjoying being buried in snow and cold as a Wampa on this snow February Day! Before I d0 my 5 book suggestion for this sweet holiday, I thought I would dive into why I celebrate it and why its such a loving holiday!
To start off, Valentine’s gets it origins from a Christian minister named Valentine. History (with a bit of legends thrown in) states Valentine was a priest who was martyred for helping lost souls find love during a time of hardships. Whether it was soldiers not allowed to have wives and families, or helping Christians escape prisons and reuniting them with their loved ones; Valentine’s legend lives on today surrounded by sweets and cards. (Much like the “Valentine” he might of sent to a young women before he died)
And though the story may sound silly, it speaks a truth about our world. Love is the most powerful thing we can ever experience. And I’m not talking about the love when your special someone gives you flowers or chocolate. (Though who doesn’t like chocolate?!?!) I’m talking about the love of Jesus, who died for us. He loved us 1st so we can love Him now.
I celebrate Valentine’s Day, not because I love getting stuff, (though I enjoy it!) but because it is a holiday of Love. So this holiday enjoy spreading love not just to your family but to everyone! Happy Valentine Everybody!
