This series is sooooo beautiful! I love ALL of Annie Douglass Lima’s books, but this series is still amazing!!! (Even though its about slaves…)
This is the second book and is about Bensin, the slave from the first book, becoming a gladiator. This is an AWESOME book! Very clean, except for the violence, and a great book for teens. (But probably more boys than girls… There is a lot of violence and the glad’s do shower in the same room, which is GROSS!)
Over all, I HIGHLY suggest this series to teens, but there is lots of violence and people do die…. Soooo… You have been warned! -The Young Llama Reader.

Bensin, a teenage slave and martial artist, is just one victory away from freedom. But after he is accused of a crime he didn’t commit, he is condemned to the violent life and early death of a gladiator. While his loved ones seek desperately for a way to rescue him, Bensin struggles to stay alive and forge an identity in an environment designed to strip it from him. When he infuriates the authorities with his choices, he knows he is running out of time. Can he stand against the cruelty of the arena system and seize his freedom before that system crushes him?
