Review
This book has been on my To-Be-Read list for months! And it was sooooo worth the wait!!!!!!!!
This book is about Arivelle, a young women struggling to survive in a world of godborn. Those born to ride and bond with a dragon, and those born to serve. Ari wants nothing more that to fly! But she doesn’t have the bloodline to bond with a dragon. Or so she believes… Turns out the world she knows is a lie! You can bond with a dragon without having a good bloodline and you can bond with a wild dragon that still has it’s flame. Now with secrets, danger and lies, Ari can only hope to make it out with her life and her dragon…
This book is amazing!!! Filled with dragon racing, competitive schools, rivals, dark secrets and a touch of romance; it is a wonderful read for teens 16 and up! I was soooooooooo invested with every chapter. It was a crazy adventure perfect for fans of How to Train Your Dragon!
Now there is some violence in the book. Mention of gangs, people dying, getting shot, stabbed, beat up and such. Mention of mafia and criminal organizations. There is also some mention of people “being together” before marriage but nothing is described. There is also magic. No voo-doo, though there is mention of people using cards to tell the future. (Not confirmed if it’s magic or a scam) The book is super clean and one I TOTALLY recommend.
Overall, LOVED IT!!!!!!! I can not wait to for book 2! This is a series that should be on every fantasy readers bookshelf! Happy Reading! -The Young Llama Reader.
Pros
- Great book for teens 16 and up!
- Action, dragons, adventure and danger!!!
Cons
- Violence and dark topics…

Version 1.0.0
An imposter. A mafia heir. A dragon race that could kill them both. The perfect mashup of Six of Crows and How to Train Your Dragon.
It’s illegal to own a wild dragon. It’s even more illegal to bond with one.
I’ve spent my life scraping by in the city’s underbelly, doing whatever it takes to give my family a better future. So when I’m offered a place at the kingdom’s most prestigious dragon riding academy, I seize the chance-no matter that I’m diving headfirst into dangerous waters. To survive, I have to hide who I am and keep the truth about my dragon buried deep.
But at Cardan Lott College, secrets don’t stay hidden long. Especially not from Rushland Covington-the academy’s golden heir who’s far too clever for his own good. Behind that perfect smile, he’s chasing a forbidden mystery about dragons…and somehow, I’m the key to solving it.
Bound by secrets, we form a reluctant alliance that leads us down a path that will permanently alter our lives and possibly our entire world. Some secrets are meant to be uncovered, and others are meant to stay hidden. But the fire growing between us is the most dangerous truth of all.
Welcome to the world of dragon racing.
