I laughed sooooo hard while reading this book!
This book is about Jack Gantos, a young teen who is grounded in a town which has nothing to do anyways. The only thing Jack is allowed to do is help write obituaries about the last generation that founded the town. The history fascinates Jack, but when more and more of the old ladies start turning up dead, murder is the word that starts going around… But who would want to kill an old lady?
This book is sooooo funny! I laughed through every chapter and could not put it down. (There is a reason this book won awards!) This novel is funny, clean and a great read for boys 9 and up! There is some cussing. (Not cursing, it’s cussing) Not horrible curse words, but it is there. There is also a lot of bloody noses, mentions of war and lots of dead old ladies.
Overall, this is a 10 out of 10 for me!!!!! I totally suggest it and I hope you all have a great day! -The Young Llama Reader.

Melding the entirely true and the wildly fictional, Dead End in Norvelt is a novel about an incredible two months for a kid named Jack Gantos, whose plans for vacation excitement are shot down when he is “grounded for life” by his feuding parents, and whose nose spews bad blood at every little shock he gets.
But plenty of excitement (and shocks) are coming Jack’s way once his mom loans him out to help a feisty old neighbor with a most unusual chore―typewriting obituaries filled with stories about the people who founded his utopian town.
As one obituary leads to another, Jack is launched on a strange adventure involving molten wax, Eleanor Roosevelt, twisted promises, a homemade airplane, Girl Scout cookies, a man on a trike, a dancing plague, voices from the past, Hells Angels . . . and possibly murder.
