							Review
This is a retelling of Peter Pan, but Hook is the hero! It is a series about Neverland, but it totally clean and spice free!!! (Which means there isn’t anything inappropriate in the novels!)
This book is about Captain Hook. But before he was know as Hook, he was Jimmy, the first lost boy and Peters best friend! Happy to never grow up, Jimmy’s never thought about anyone but himself. That is until Tinkerbell starts talking to him. Now he sees what Peter Pan is really doing. Kidnapping boys and drugging them with pixie dust, all the while killing off the pixies and ruling Neverland. But when Jimmy makes a choice, his life is forever changed. Now he’s James Hook, a pirate bent on revenge and a mission to free Neverland from Pan…. Before it’s too late…
This was an amazing novel!!!! I was super excited to finally read it and couldn’t put it down! (Seriously… It was 1 am before I had to force myself to stop reading and finish the book in the morning!) If you love retellings with villains turned heroes, action and adventure on every page, sweet romance with no spice and realistic portrayals of stress, (poor Hook!) this would be a fantastic series for you!!!!
Now there is violence in the book. Mention of people getting cut, stabbed, bleeding and such. Hook loses his hand, (it wasn’t too graphic thankfully!) and pixies and merpeople of Neverland are abused by Pan. There is mention of using Mermaid blood for things and cutting them to get it. Mention of pixies being caged and dying. Mention of Pan once experimenting on people. However, it honestly is super clean and not too detailed. Young ladies 14 and up could read it just fine!
Overall, LOVE!!!!!! I am super excited to find a new author and can’t wait to read more of Mary Mecham’s books!!!!!!! -The Young Llama Reader.
Pros
- A great book for girls 14 and up!
- Soooo good!!!!!!
Cons
- Mention of death and violence…

A pirate, a pixie, and a plot to foil Peter Pan…
