Review

I loved this book so much! Just got it from the library today, started it and finished it within 3 hours, and obsessed over it for about 5 hours. It’s awesome!!!!

This book is about Azora, a trained assassin who is tasked with killing the phoenix bloods. When the Prince Tarquin of Pyren requests a bride from her kingdom to secure peace, Azora is placed into the position with the orders to end the evil prince if the treaty breaks. But when she starts getting to know her husband, Azora’s viewpoint starts shifting. But dark secrets are being kept from her as she decides to fulfill her mission or to change it…

This totally clean, fantasy adventure is amazing!!!! The romance is super sweet with nothing spicy happening. (Some kisses happen, embraces, looking at each other and being in the same room, but it it totally clean for ladies 16 and up to read) The novel really is a sweet read, with plenty of adventure as well as cute simple moments. I think this would be a great read for Christian young ladies who love fantasy!

Now there is some violence in the book. Mention of killing people, murders and kidnappings. Mention of cuts, wounds and such. But honestly, everything is pretty clean. There isn’t a lot of gore and such; mostly just quick action and maybe death. There is also some magic in the book, specifically tied to the phoenixes getting injured or dying but being healed by fire. Nothing voo-dooy.

Overall, this book was a fantastic read!!!! I really enjoyed reading a book that I knew was totally clean, and I can not wait to read more by the author!!!!!!!!! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • A very clean adventure!!!
  • Sweet romance!
  • Great for teens 16 and up!!!

Cons

  • Some violence and mention of dark topics…

Version 1.0.0

To assassinate her target, she must marry her enemy.

Azora has dedicated her life to exacting revenge on the phoenix shifters who murdered her parents. When Prince Tarquin of Pyren demands a bride as part of a peace treaty, the elite strike squad of assassins Azora belongs to agree-she’s the perfect candidate to eliminate the monstrous shifter.

The traces of Pyrenese blood flowing in her veins grant her immunity to fire and will allow her to slay Tarquin, for a phoenix can only be destroyed by one descended from Pyren. The safety of all Termarth is dependent on Azora to maintain her cover; her true identity must never be discovered.

With the tantalizing offer of peace on the altar, Azora weds Tarquin, knowing that as soon as the peace treaty is broken, either bride or groom will be the first casualty. But just as Azora begins to uncover the man behind the monster, skirmishes erupt throughout the land. When the time arrives to finally eliminate the threat to Termarth, Azora’s loyalties are torn.

She intended to gamble her life away, not her heart.
