Review

Ok, I just loved Kate Landry Has a Plan soooo much, that I went and got the 1st book in the series. And Julia Monroe Begins Again did not disappoint!!!

This book is about Julia Monroe, a widow who’s adjusting to life without her 2 college boys at home. Focusing on her cleaning business is her goal, but that all changes when her ex from 20 years ago comes back into her life. And she isn’t ready for all the feelings that he would bring with him. Now she’s avoiding Samuel, trying to keep her mother under control while also keeping her best friend from forcing Julia to sell her cleaning supplies! But maybe God’s plan is what she really needs to be focusing on…

This book was adorable!!!!!! I just loved it! It is clean and such a sweet read, I enjoyed the story line and the characters were amazing. This is a very clean, fun, Christian romantic-comedy that girls 15 and up would just love!

Now there are some adult topics in the novel. It’s not inappropriate, just written for older audiences. Mention of being intimate before marriage. (Not explained or brought up in passing) Mention of miscarriages, one-night-stands and such. There is also a lot of talk about muscles throughout the book. (I think the author got muscle-happy) Mention of back, chest and leg muscles. Nothing gross or anything, just written for older girls.

Overall, this is a perfect New Orleans novel about forgiveness and second chances! It’s as sweet as a Beignet and one book I totally suggest. Have a Blessed Day!!!! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • A very funny Christian romance!
  • Very clean and great for girls 15 and up!!!
  • A super, sweet rom-com!

Cons

  • NOT  a kids book.
  • Mention of adult topics…

Samuel was back. It seemed unfair to be blindsided. And in church no less. Shouldn’t there be a commandment about that? Thou shalt not step foot inside thy ex’s place of worship.

Julia Monroe has just turned forty and has high hopes for a fresh start after the last decade of her life abruptly left her a young widow and a single mom. With both her boys off to college, she can finally focus on expanding her New Orleans-based cleaning business. Julia is ready for new beginnings–but God has other plans. Samuel Reed, the ruggedly handsome Green Beret who shattered her heart over twenty years ago, has returned to town and is the kind of distraction she never saw coming.

After their first interaction in years leaves her mind spinning and her emotions out of control, Julia knows she needs to avoid him if she wants any chance of preventing history from repeating itself, but her meddling best friend keeps throwing them together. And now it seems inevitable that the man who was hard to forget might just be impossible to resist.
