Why I Celebrate Christmas! (And Why You Should Too!)

Merry Christmas everyone! Tis’ that wonderful time of the year where we smile, sing carols and love on everybody, and I just feel the need to spread a little Christmas Cheer! I did a post this year about why I don’t celebrate Halloween and why I’m against it. (Holiday of Fear… Yeah I’m good!) So I thought it would be fun to do a Christmas one and why it’s the best season ever!

Where to begin except with Christ?!? He is literally the Reason for this Season. (It is called Christ-mas…) 2000 years ago, (2024 to be precise) Jesus loved our broken world so much He came down and was born. And I could go on and on about how he saved us by dying on the cross for our sins, but that’s Easter. And though that holiday is about the Resurrection, Christmas is about the Gift. What gift? God’s gift. The gift of hope, peace, joy and love. A gift that never fades, never breaks and never leaves. The most beautiful gift of all. Jesus.

What a amazing holiday that we get to celebrate. And because Jesus gave first, we get to give now! And not just to each other, but back to God. The UPCI, (my Church organization) does this absolutely beautiful celebration around Christmas time called Christmas For Christ. It is an offering you give to Jesus for Christmas that goes on to start more churches. It is beautiful, I’m tearing up just thinking about it and I just love the idea of not only giving to my family and friends, but also setting aside a gift for God. Wrapping it up and tying it with a bow. And giving it to Him in a small support of His perfect plan.

Christmas is not just about the gifts and the tree. It’s also about Him. I still love giving to my family on Christmas. Sitting by our Christmas tree that is filled with ornaments from years before. I mean the tree is a symbol of hope. It’s green branches that never die show that winter will end and spring will come. Kind-of like how Jesus will come back for us. The gifts we give are acts of love, a lot like what the wise men did. We wrap them up and present them to each other to show appreciation. We hang stockings to leave little gifts to lift spirits. We light up our houses to show the Light of the World has come! We put out our nativity to remember how Christ came. We put wreaths on our door to welcome the spirit of Christmas into our home, a lot like how we welcome Jesus into our home. Christmas is a beautiful time of year where love is passed around more than ever before!

That is why I celebrate Christmas. Because Jesus Christ sacrificed to give a gift for us. What a beautiful season. Merry Christmas everyone! And may it be full of love, joy and the greatest gift of all… Jesus. -The Young Llama Reader.
