Review

So, this is the second book in ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’, and is another weird/not a happy ending book. The series is supposed to be different from other books; I don’t think any of the books end well. (Which I don’t mind; most of the books I read have the ‘Happily Ever After!!!!’ and it is always nice to have a change of books) But this is a good series!

The book is very clean, and very… strange… (The good funny strange) Though there is violence in the book. The children in the book do get threatened with a very long, scary knife more than once, and someone is murdered. But the series is funny in a bad/good way, ya know?!? And I do think it is kid-friendly! (I personally have a bad sense of humor, so I enjoy these books very much. “Thank You, my good friends the Hayes for suggesting these books!!!”)

Over all, I love these books!!!!! The bad humor, amazing plot lines, and horrible circumstances these kids find themselves in? I LOVE IT!!!!!!! And I am very much so, suggesting these books to y’all! My friends the Hayes read them as a family, so they would be great family books too! (But only if you are ok with bad humor) -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • Funny and a great book for familys
  • Very interesting plot line

Cons

  • Violence
  • And NO happy ending

Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire are intelligent children. They are charming, and resourceful, and have pleasant facial features. Unfortunately, they are exceptionally unlucky.

In the first two books alone, the three youngsters encounter a greedy and repulsive villain, itchy clothing, a disastrous fire, a plot to steal their fortune, a lumpy bed, a deadly serpent, a large brass reading lamp, a long knife, and a terrible odour.
