Review

Fairy Tale Reform School by Jen Calonita is one of my favorite series! So of course I also enjoyed Royal Academy Rebels by her as well! (Time for a re-review!!!)

This series is about Devin, a royal with bigger plans than just ruling her small kingdom. With her gift of speaking to animals, she plans on being the best creature caretaker in all the kingdoms! Course getting shipped off to Royal Academy, the school for every prince and princess, wasn’t part of her plans. A school where Devin, with her pants and attitude, don’t fit in. And there’s something strange going on… With dragons, curses and more, Devin is in for an adventure!

This book is one I read years ago. I loved it then, and I love it now! It’s silly, with lots of laughs and plenty of adventure. There is a great focus on friendship and teamwork, as well as saving yourself and others instead of waiting for your prince! There is magic in the book. Mention of monsters, (harpies, dragons, etc.) curses and taking over kingdoms kind-of stuff. This is a very clean read for girls 8 and up.

Overall, a fabulous read!!! One I love and one I totally suggest. Happy Reading!!! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • A fabulous series!!!
  • Great for girls 8 and up!

Cons

  • Magic…

In Enchantasia, becoming a legendary prince or princess doesn’t happen overnight. Enter Royal Academy, the training ground for the fairy tale leaders of tomorrow!

But Devin has major reservations about her new school and her royal future. How can she be a princess and the best creature caretaker Enchantasia has ever seen? It doesn’t help that there’s something seriously weird about RA’s headmistress. Olivina seems obsessed with preparing students for possible attacks from villains (“A royal can’t rule when they’re stuck in a tower!”) Devin gets that being Snow White and Rapunzel’s fairy godmother has probably made Olivina pretty paranoid, but anytime someone steps a toe out of line, Olivina becomes more of a fairy nightmare than a fairy godmother.

Something isn’t right with this lady, and Devin is determind to find out what. But what Devin discovers could change the fairy tale world forever…
