I love a good retelling! And this Aladdin/The Mummy is sooo wonderfully good! (And the author is Christian, so the book is spice free and has no cursing!)
This book is about Caleena, a young women fighting for her right in a male-dominated field. So when she is given a chance to decipher part of King Thalorian’s mines, she takes the chance even though it brings up old nightmares. But when she falls into a cave, Caleena isn’t expecting to find a lamp in it. Or the genie in the lamp who wants revenge on his brother for stealing his magical kingdom for 500 years. Now they have to work together to free Ranen from his curse, while also trying to prevent another from being freed… someone far more deadly than a genie…
This book was amazing! Th romance was super sweet and very clean! (No spice kisses and such) The adventure and mystery were stunning, and I couldn’t get enough of the characters! I was not expecting to love this soooo much and I desperately want book 2! This is a great book for girls 16 and up.
There is violence in the book. Mention of blood, knifes, guns and such. Mention of people dying, being turned to ash and such. Not gory but there is violence. Also there is a Mummy. It is gross, and a bit described. (Don’t read this at midnight like I did!!!!) This novel is spice free, but there is kissing, embraces and such. As well as mention of a marriage night but nothing happens. The women in the book does have to bath with other women but nothing is described. There is also mention of sheer nightgowns 2 times, but nothing is mentioned.
Overall, this is a great Young Adult novel! I am obsessed and can’t wait to see where book 2 goes!!!!! I also like the fact that the author made the dedication Romans 5 :3-4. Happy Readings! -The Young Llama Reader
