Review
This is such a cute, unique fantasy filled with magic, adventure and romance!
This book is about Emma, a young girl trying to survive high school after her parents death. She is finally feeling like she can live again when she meets Shad, a mysterious young man who makes her soul sing! Literally sing… A song she never knew seems to only play around him. And when her best friend Ryker, claims he knows why her parents died and the man who killed them; Emma’s live starts spiraling out of control…
This book was not what I was expecting. This is only the beginning of the story and it is more about Emma’s life than general adventure. With cute romantic moments, mixed in with a touch of magic, this is a great clean fantasy for young ladies 16 and up!
Now I do put it at 16 because there is kissing in the book. Most of it is on the hand, palm and such. A few on the head, neck, cheek and nose. It is all very clean, but there is a lot of it. There is also a chapter where friends fall asleep watching a movie on a bed and wake up together snuggling. (Nothing happens) There is also violence in the book. Mention of blood, death and car crashes.
Overall, this book is pretty clean and would be a cute read for girls 16 and up! I enjoyed the novel and can’t wait for book 2!!! -The Young Llama Reader.
Pros
- A cute romantic, adventure!
- Great for young ladies 16 and up!!!
Cons
- There is a lot of kissing (clean, but it is in there)
- Violence
The Heir is a clean portal fantasy romance series that is connected to Kayla Eshbaugh’s best selling fairytale retelling series: The Cursed Kingdom Chronicles. See the Ancients you know and love, and ancestors of the royals hundreds of years in the future. A series that starts in our world, uncovers some Terran magic and magical beings among us and may just take you to Terra.
When a boy moves in across the street during the summer before Emma’s junior year of high school, she is instantly drawn to him. With the recent loss of her parents, pain and sorrow is all she feels but, when she is around Shad, Emma’s pain is gone and her soul seems to literally sing. For the first time since the loss of her parents, she feels as if she might be able to have a happy regular life with Shad by her side.
That is, she thought she could have a regular life, and maybe she would have, if she was just an average person. But average and normal? No, Emma is not that at all.
Emma is the heir to a kingdom in the land of Terra. A land where fairytales and magic are real and a land that is currently on the brink of destruction. Emma is the only one who can save the land. But, Emma has no desire to be a princess, or save a strange land. All she wants is to heal after the loss of her parents, go to homecoming, and maybe have her first real kiss.
Will Emma have the life she desires? Or will she be pulled in too deep to ever go back to any semblance of a normal life again?
