Review
This book doesn’t just have a amazing cover, but it also is an stunning adventure for boys 8 and up! Filled with magic, adventure and friendship, this is one of my new favorite books!
This book is about Finn, an orphan trying to survive in a land that is losing its light. With the kingdom split between the King and the General, Finn just wants to steal enough so his sister and friend can live a comfortable life. That all changes when they meet Ehrit, a mysterious stranger who says he can take them to the Lake of Light and give them something that will forever overcome the darkness. But they aren’t the only ones looking for the mysterious lake…
This book was soooo not what I thought it was going to be! While I knew I was getting a Christian adventure, not unlike Narnia or Wingfeather Saga, I wasn’t expecting to read what felt like an allegory about the road to a Christian life. This novel is a masterpiece because of that! With action, friendship, danger, adventure and hope, this is a story that boys 8 and up would love!!!!!
There is evil in the book portrayed with bad magic. They control shadows, hide from the light and use their power to corrupt what little light they can in a world of darkness. It isn’t voo-doo, but the people who use the shadows are representing those who sin and won’t turn to God. It’s the classic Good vs. Evil, Light vs. Dark, Us vs. the World.
Overall, I NEED BOOK 2!!!!!!!! I loved this book sooooo much and can not wait to read more by this author! I hope you like it as much as I did, Happy Reading! -The Young Llama Reader.

A band of misfits seek to fight the darkness that’s slowly overcoming their kingdom—the start of a grand adventure series in the tradition of The Chronicles of Narnia and the Wingfeather Saga.
Ever since the Great Betrayal, the light in Wildfel has been dying. The sunshine is dimmer, it takes more firewood to brighten a room, and the shadows grow stronger by the day. Twelve-year-old orphan Finn survives in this world by being a thief. When he, his best friend Adrion, and younger sister Lydia meet a mysterious stranger who claims to know of a Lake of Light, they set off on an adventure to places where the mist can steal a precious memory, starlight gathers in waterfalls, and spiders spin shimmering webs of glass as deadly as they are dazzling.
But there are secrets hiding in the shadows that could change Finn’s understanding of everything he knows—and finding the Lake of Light could alter not only the course of his life but the very kingdom itself.
