Review
This book is amazing and also soooooo sad!!!! I honestly don’t know how Deborah Clack wrote a book that is sooooo sad but also soooo funny at the same time!
This book is about Meredith Harper, a young women trying out life again after 4 years of dealing with her loss. But her vacation plans don’t go as planned and she ends up meeting a celebrity who is instantly smitten with her. Harlan Holcombe is sick and tired of Hollywood and all the drama. So when he meets a young widow who has seen more than enough heartbreak but still is trying to live, Harlan is in love and wants to know more. But Meredith is scared to love again, and she’s more scared that Harlan isn’t ready for all the grief she carries with her…
This book is a masterpiece of romance! It is real, it is funny and it is sooo sad all at once! This is not a rom-com. This is a romance that grows through tragedy and time. I laughed and cried soooo much while reading this novel. It does not skip over grief, but the book also doesn’t bury itself in sadness either. There is humor, sweet romantic moments and hope! Ladies 16 and up, you need to read this book.
Now, there are topics in the book that are dark and sad. The main character lost her family in car-crash that she witnessed. A bit of a spoiler, but she had 2 kids and her husband all die in a semi-truck hit. You will cry over it, just warning you. Due to that, the book had grief and loss in it. Lots of tears, heartbreak and such. But there is such a good outlook on life written throughout the story too!
Overall, I am obsessed with this story and I do suggest it even though some parts are sad. Sometimes the sad parts are what makes the happy parts so much better in life. -The Young Llama Reader.
Pros
- An amazing book about hope!
- Romantic and sweet!!!
Cons
- Lots of grief and sad topics…
When you’re ready to live again, love often has a way of finding you.
Four years after tragedy, Meredith Harper is tired of hiding in her corner of Texas and living life like a game of dodgeball. She packs up her grief, awkward social graces, and sizable life insurance in search of a vacation and investment property in Colorado Springs. A botched dinner reservation throws her into the path of a bona fide movie star, and Meredith pushes through her comical celebrity neurosis to discover he is charming but a terrible dancer.
A viral video of a daring rescue makes Harlan Holcombe’s celebrity star stronger, with millions of his fans deeming him a real-life Hercules. But a minute of heroism doesn’t absolve his past mistakes.
As Harlan and Meredith spend more time together, he helps her believe there might be more for her not just in life but in love. And she might be part of the solution to restore the legacy he fears is tarnished. But what happens when the path to redeem his mistakes collides with the path to redeem her loss?
