Review

Oh, what’s this? A Christmas novella being reviewed in October? Yeah, I have no “shelf” control. I’m reading Christmas books early, get over it! (My website, my rules!)

This short novel is a Courtney Walsh story about 2 friends slowly finding out love can come from the most unexpected places! Hayes is your normal everyday travel writing. Always happy to find a new adventure, but since his last one went so poorly, he decides to head home for Christmas to recover. But life takes an weird turn when his aunt ropes him in to play matchmaker. Not exactly his skill set, Hayes drags his friend Prudence in to help as well. But when sparks start to fly in all the wrong directions, he realizes what he wants might be right in front of him…

This novella was very cute, totally sweet and pretty humorous. I loved the romance, though it moved faster because the book was so short, it was still written pretty well with a great build up. I would say this book was like watching a Hallmark romance. It went rather fast, but was still pretty good.

However, it was only 176 pages long! What kind-of book is that?!?! (Hint, that’s a novella. Translation, disappointingly short…) I could of gone for at least 100 more pages. It felt really fast paced and sped through the story. It’s still a great read, but it is pretty short.

Overall, even though this novella doesn’t reach 200 pages, it is still a great Christmas read for young ladies 14 and up! I hope you all have a beautiful day!!! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • A great novella for ladies 14 and up!
  • Clean and very cute!

Cons

  • Unfortunately short…

Hayes McGuire never believed the stories about a famous Nantucket matchmaker until she ropes him into taking over her duties while she’s off the island for Christmas.

So he enlists the help of the one person he can trust with this crazy scheme—his best friend, Prudence. Armed with a series of rules, a book of success stories and the promise of Christmas magic, the pair of old friends sets out to make a Christmas match.

Little do they know that magic doesn’t discriminate, and they soon find their years of friendship deepening into something more. Will Pru and Hayes ignore the electricity in the air between them or will there be more than one match made at Christmas?

A Match Made at Christmas is a stand-alone holiday novella.
