Review
This book was not what I was excepting. With a realistic story, with a realistic ending, this is a great novel for kids 8 and up!
This book is about Jillian Robichaux, a young girl living in Boutin, Louisiana in a town that is slowly flooding away. Jillian loves Boutin and is determined to never leave her family and heritage. But when the flooding gets steadily worse, there might not be a town for her to live in anymore. So to help preserve her history, Jillian and her friends start collecting the stories of the town so what is flooded won’t be forgotten.
This book was inspiring! I learned so much about the hardship of living in a down with flooding. It is both beautiful and heartbreaking. This novel is a great one for kids 8 and up. It is realistic and honestly doesn’t have the happy ending you would think the story needed. There are some sad topics. Mention of people losing their homes and land. Mention of absent parents.
Overall, this is a great book! I loved the story and I totally suggest it!!!!! Happy Reading! -The Young Llama Reader.
