I really loved this book! There was adventure, mystery, friendship and more. Every chapter was engaging and kids 10 and up would love this novel.
This book is about Ravani Foster, a young boy living in Slaughterville. Ravani doesn’t like his life. He doesn’t have any siblings, any friends or anything to look forward too. So when he witnesses a small group of kids arrive, Ravani is a little surprised that something is actually happening in their small town. And stuff keeps happening. He makes a friend, faces a bully, and has to decide how important a secret is to keep his new life.
This book was AMAZING! I was soooooo interested throughout the story. Every new twist was a fun adventure that boys 10 and up would love! The friendship in the book was soooo well written and the plot line was just plain wonderful. This is a book I definitely suggest!
There is sadly curse words in the book. (More cuss than curse but still there) Not many, but enough that I’m giving a warning. There is also violence in the book. Slaughterville is known for it’s slaughter house; which is brought up. There is mention of blood, guts and such. Not graphic, but some parts are a bit gross. (Kids who cry at dead worms on sidewalks should not read this book) There are also some darker topics about kids running away from orphanages and such because of neglect.
Overall, this book deserves soooo many awards and I can’t stop talking about it! If you are looking for an inspiring read about changing the norm and finding friendship and family, this is the book for you! -The Young Llama Reader.
