Review

I have been LOVING Ashley Willingham’s novels lately!!! Her fantasy series is spectacular and I can’t wait to read more by such a talented Christian author!

This book is about Lyra Daelora, the future Pirate Queen of the Outer Rim. But when mutiny strikes, her life tumbles out of control and into the hands of Vaelion, one of the Celestari everyone thought was long gone. Except she doesn’t know it’s him who saved her, she thinks he’s just a man who needs some help and a voice box to get back on his feet. But with hunters looking for the fabled StarMap tied around her neck, Vaelion has to betray her to protect his people… But how can he betray his soulmate?

This book was a wonderful twist on the Little Mermaid! (That is if it was set in the Treasure Planet world!!!) The book is full of wonderful world building, adventure and sweet romance! I loved every chapter and totally suggest this book to young ladies 15 and up!

There is violence in the book. Mention of fighting, blood, injures and such. Not too gory. There is also magic in the book. Mention of soul mates tied to each others souls. (The Mer say Mate a lot in the book because of it) And there is also a WitchKing in the book who is possessed by the Silence. No voo-doo or anything, all very clean.

Overall, this is a wonderful Clean, Christian Fairytale that ladies would love!!!! I loved this series soooooo much and totally suggest it! Happy Reading! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • A wonderful space fantasy!!!
  • Christian friendly!!!!!
  • Fabulous for ladies 15 and up!

Cons

  • Some violence mentioned

LYRA: I was born to rule the stars. As the daughter of the Pirate Queen, my destiny was to command my own fleet, chart my own course, and carve my name into the heavens.

But when mutiny strikes, I’m pushed overboard, into the very heart of a nebula cloud.

I should have died.

Instead, I find him, a creature of legend and stardust. One of the fabled Celestari.

VAELION: When I prayed to the Creator, begging for a Resonance—the one whose soul was meant for mine—I never imagined she would be human. Nor that she would hold the means to destroying my people forever.

Lyra is my mate, but to be part of her world, I must make a deal with the Witchking and sacrifice all that I am. Without my Voice, I am powerless. But without her, I am nothing.

Three days. That is all I have. And if I fail, I will lose more than just my freedom—I will lose her, along with the key to saving my world. With enemies closing in and time running out, can I possibly win Lyra’s heart?

Or will I be lost to the Witchking’s void forever?
