Review

I LOVED this book! Treasure Island is a wonderful story, one that is read years after the release because it is amazing!

This book is about Jim Hawkins, a young boy trying to help his parents run their inn. But when pirates start showing up, and a map is left in their hands, Jim goes on the wildest adventure of his life… To Treasure Island! Full of danger, action and pirates, this novel will keep you reading till the end!

This book is awesome!!!!!!!!! I loved every chapter! The adventure was amazing, the action was engaging, and every page was full of a wonderfully written story! This book is stunning. I think families would love to read this book together.

Now there is violence in the book. Mention of death, murder, people getting shot, stabbed and such. There is light blood with little to no description. Honestly, the entire book is very clean for kids 10 and up. The only issue is that it can be hard to read. (It was written in 1883) The book has a lot of interesting dialog, that sometimes you can’t understand.

Overall, this is a classic for a reason!!!! (And it makes me want to watch Treasure Planet!!!!) I loved this book and totally suggest it. Happy Readings! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • A wonderful adventure!!!
  • Great for families!!!!!

Cons

  • Hard to read

When he attends a dying patron of his family’s boarding house, young Jim Hawkins has no idea that the man was once a pirate, or that the man’s possessions include a map that will lead whoever has it to the island where the  notorious buccaneer, Captain Flint, buried his treasure.

Jim and his guardians hire a boat to sail to the island, unaware that crew they have hired includes many members of Flint’s pirate band, among them former quartermaster Long John Silver, and that they hope to claim the treasure for their own.

The ensuing action-packed adventure established the classic pirate story as it was written for more than a century afterward, and it made the literary reputation of its young author, Robert Louis Stevenson.
