Review

I have actually reviewed The Princess Bride before. But sometimes I re-read a book and want to review it again, so here we are! 4 years later and I still love the book!

This book is a classic. (If you’ve seen the movie, it’s a lot like that!) Filled with adventure, romance, betrayal and death. It’s a book you read without stopping, desperate for the end! Rewritten by William Goldman, it is about Buttercup a beautiful women who is looking for her love. It is about a Pirate looking for his love. A Fencer looking for revenge. And a Giant just there for the ride…

This book was fabulous!!!! I loved the humor, adventure and romance, it was filled with interesting facts related to the movie. And honestly it’s just a great read! I think teens 12 and up would love this book. And families would enjoy reading it together too!

Now I do have a complaint. Which was a complaint in my first review too. The author who rewrote it has paragraphs throughout the novel on what he took out, or his thoughts on the chapter. I personally just want to read the book. There’s interesting facts, but I like the story more.

There is violence in the book too. Mention of death, blood, torture and such. Not too detailed but it is brought up. Honestly it’s all pretty clean, but young kids are not the recommended age range for this novel.

Overall, this book is just as good as the movie! I loved every line and can’t wait to re-read it! If you love the movie, I totally suggest the novel. Happy Reading! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • An amazing classic for teens 12 and up!
  • Adventure, chaos and romance!!!!!!

Cons

  • Mention of violence, death and such.

This is my favorite book in all the world, though I have never read it.

As a child, I was read the “good parts” version of S. Morgenstern’s classic tale of true love and high adventure, and that is what I give to you.

It is the story of Buttercup, the most beautiful woman in a hundred years, who loves and loses her Westley.

It is the story of a kidnapping, a chase, and a daring rescue by a mysterious man in black.

This timeless adventure is a story of fencing and fighting, of torture and poison, of hate and revenge.

It is a tale of giants and hunters, of brave men and bad men, of escapes and miracles. And, of course, it is a story of true love.
