Review

This is an amazing re-write of Red Riding Hood perfect for young ladies 15 and up! It is full of adventure, romance and action complete with a fluffy wolf!!! A great novel that is a must read.

This book is about Letty Hood, a heiress in hiding who is waiting for the day to return to the home where her uncle tried to kill her. Philip Carmichael is the Pinkerton agent sent to retrieve her early, but the Radcliffe heiress is not who he was expecting. Cloaked in a red hood with a wolf by her side, Letty surprises him with every new obstacle they face. Which is a lot, because her uncle is determined to get her fortune. Can they make it back in time before her birthday, the day where her uncle can stop her no more! Or will they lose themselves along the way…

This book was amazing! By far my favorite in the Texas Ever After series!!! It is full of adventure with plenty of action to keep you entertained till the last chapter! The romance is very cute, but it is a more young adult book with mentions of kissing and reputations. There is a scene where they are hurt and soaked from the rain and have to change in a cabin. Nothing inappropriate happens, but there is mention of a mans bare chest because they have to clean a wound. That just makes this not a kids book, because it is a Christian novel so everything is completely clean.

There is some violence. Mention of people getting hurt, injured and some blood. Mention of people trying to kill each other and some mention of violent animals. Plus a very dramatic scene where someone tries to use a guillotine which seemed out of place in a Texas novel.

Overall, this is an amazing book for young women who love a Fairy-Tale retelling! I very much enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the authors Once Upon a Time in Texas series!!!!! Have a Blessed Day! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • A fantastic series for ladies 15 and up!
  • A Christian, Fairy-Tale set in Texas!!!!
  • Super clean and full of adventure!

Cons

  • Not a kids book…
Trust no one in the shadows of the piney woods . . .

Letty Hood has spent the last fifteen years of her life hidden away with her grandmother in the backwoods of east Texas to escape the deadly schemes of an uncle who wants her dead. Now, with her twenty-first birthday on the horizon, she is forced to accept the escort of a stranger and return to Houston in secret so she can claim a birthright that will make her one of the wealthiest women in Texas. If she lives long enough to inherit.

Pinkerton agent Philip Carmichael has one duty: get the Radcliffe heiress home alive. Expecting a spoiled girl, Philip is surprised to encounter a woman of rare strength with a kind soul and keen wit. As they journey together, Letty’s resilience wins his admiration, breaking through his hardened cynicism. Yet the threat to her survival grows more menacing with every mile, and Philip fears that keeping Letty out of harm’s way may be just as impossible as keeping her out of his heart.
