Review

Interesting enough, I don not like the original Jungle Book movie; however, I really love the live-action one! And so when I saw they did a novel based off of the live-action movie I was pretty excited!!!

This book is about Mowgli, a boy who grew up in the jungle with nothing but the animals keeping him company. Living with the wolf pack all his life, Mowgli knows he is different but doesn’t realize how different till the fearsome tiger Shere Khan starts hunting him. Now Mowgli must find a new pack, or give up his Jungle forever and join the man-village…

Based off of the Jungle Book, live-action movie, this novel is amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, the action and adventure had me hooked the whole time! Even know I watched the movie so many times, I knew the story by heart, I still enjoyed reading rather than watching it!!! And this book has some hidden details you have never seen before. Questions like, “Why does Bagheera hate Baloo?” and “Does Kaa survive?” are actually answered people!!! (I love Disney facts!)

Now, I will say there is violence in the book. It’s the Jungle! These are wild animals hunting and killing to survive… Sorry to break it to you, but there is mention of violence, fighting, death. Mention of being attacked, animals getting eaten, mention of blood on the ground and animals coats. Mention of teeth, claws and such tearing skin. However, it isn’t that gory much to my surprise. The authors did an amazing job not going into detail in the fight scenes.

Overall, this book is fantastic!!! I really think boys and girls 10 and up who love the movie, would love this book just as much!!!!!!! If you are looking for a fun, interesting, adventurous novel, this is the book for you! -The Young Llama Reader.

Pros

  • Such a great novel based on the movie!!!
  • Funny, interesting and totally amazing!
  • A great book for kids 10 and up!!!

Cons

  • Mention of death, violence and blood…

‘THIS IS THE LAW OF THE JUNGLE, AS OLD AND AS TRUE AS THE SKY. . . .’

Mowgli has lived in the Jungle for as long as he can remember. Raised by a noble wolf pack and mentored by a wise panther called Bagheera, Mowgli enjoys the rich, vibrant world of the animals.

And while at times it is clear he doesn’t quite fit in, he could never imagine leaving it. But when a vengeful tiger makes a vow to remove the man-cub from the Jungle, Mowgli’s world is turned upside down.

With help from his new friend Baloo the bear, Mowgli finds himself on a journey to protect his wolf family and himself–a journey that could change things forever. Will the man-cub be able to find his place in the Jungle?
